The Northern Irish Comedy Protocol

The Northern Irish Comedy Protocol is a brand new showcase that highlights the best new comedy talent from Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland wasn't much known for comedy over the years. The best we did for a long time was Patrick Kielty and the Troubles and we've spent many years apologising for both.

But there is a new explosion in Northern Irish comedy (that is probably more of a triggering phrase to be honest... actually so is triggering). But a new generation of comedians are coming along and taking the comedy from here to a new level, using podcasts and social media to bring NI comedy to a whole new audience. The first wave of which are now filling arenas and large halls with their unique style.

The Northern Irish Comedy Protocol will bring the best of that new talent to the Edinburgh Fringe.

A daily show case of MC Peter E Davidson (As heard on BBC NI's The Blame Game and Live at The Sunflower) and three up and coming NI comics. Four exciting new acts for the price of... well, its pay what you want... so for the price of whatever you want.

Occasionally we may switch out one of the NI acts for a special guest Irish, Scottish or English comic just to see how they like being the token act.

Harsh accents, dark humour and weird outlooks are the order of the day. From the place that brought you Derry Girls and... Belfast by Kenneth Brannagh? Yeah, we really need to start upping our game,

This year we have two entry methods: Free & Unticketed or Pay What You Can
Free & Unticketed: Entry to a show is first-come, first served at the venue - just turn up and then donate to the show in the collection at the end.
Pay What You Can: For these shows you can book a ticket to guarantee entry and choose your price from the Fringe Box Office, up to 30 mins before a show. After that all remaining space is free at the venue on a first-come, first-served bases. Donations for walk-ins at the end of the show.
