In her new show, Communist Dad, American comedian Candace Bryan tells the story of her unusual childhood in Memphis, Tennessee—from her absentee mom and banjo-playing Marxist father, to her time spent living in the projects and her conversion to Judaism at 9 years old.

It’s a rags-to-riches story that is both quintessentially American and quintessentially anti-American...and somehow all completely true.

Adding in stories about cocaine, mayonnaise, and other lethal substances, Candace concocts a playful takedown of society’s obsession with motherhood, the expectations of the nuclear family, and being a woman in 2023.

This year we have two entry methods: Free & Unticketed or Pay What You Can
Free & Unticketed: Entry to a show is first-come, first served at the venue - just turn up and then donate to the show in the collection at the end.
Pay What You Can: For these shows you can book a ticket to guarantee entry and choose your price from the Fringe Box Office, up to 30 mins before a show. After that all remaining space is free at the venue on a first-come, first-served bases. Donations for walk-ins at the end of the show.
