Eve Ellenbogen: Dead Mom Stuff

Standup comedian and loudmouth New York Jew, Eve Ellenbogen seems to be an open book. In her decade of doing standup, she has spoken to strangers with ease about her sex life, her insecurities, and a host of other topics often considered “taboo.” And yet, when it comes to her childhood, Eve has largely tap danced around the subject, particularly sidestepping her most painful “elephant in the room” baggage, the death of her mother when she was only seven years old. Probably because it would be, like, kind of a bummer.

In Dead Mom Stuff, Eve finally aims her comedic lens at her past, exploring the effects of her mother’s death on herself and her family, and seeking to understand exactly what it is that leads us to keep our grief a secret.

“There is so much to love about this talented comic that ends up leaving us wanting more”

“Ellenbogen brings an enviable stage presence, an infectious sense of humour, and a dark sensibility” - Great Scott ★★★★
