Described as “The Free Festival’s version of the Pleasance Courtyard”, the Free Sisters is located on the Cowgate, right in the middle of town. Usually a multi-room venue located around the courtyard, this year there are shows in one room next to the courtyard, which is now an outdoor drinking area full of tables for before and after shows.

Pay What You Want: This year our shows in venues are ticketed, so you should book a ticket to guarantee entry - this is because of restricted capacities, COVID restrictions, and so we can keep you as safe as possible. Pay What You Want means you donate to a show in advanced for this ticket and you know you can get in. You can still turn up at the venue for free, and donate at the end of the show - but we recommend getting tickets this year to make sure you get in.

The smash-hit show returns for a seventh year, with top TV comedians - aka the Gladi-Haters - improvising rants on topics suggested by the audience. By turns raucous and surreal, this show has the audience on the edge of their seat as the comedians try to walk the line. Want to see Darius Davies, ★★★★★ (BroadwayBaby.com), Leo Kearse, ''seriously funny''★★★★★ (Scotsman), and guests hate on Matt Hancock? Vegans? Or the mating rituals of guinea pigs? It's up to you! In this show, I Robert Instons(is) narrates as informatively as I am able on the mythology that surrounds the murders in Whitechapel in 1888. Through the voices of Queen Victoria herself, the Commissioner of Police and a notorious suspect nicknamed Leather Apron, a picture emerges that may unsettle. Was there a cover up? Did the press invent Jack the Ripper? Did they write at least some of the boastful letters from a fictional and teasing perpetrator? I feel we can never know enough on this subject and I work to instill a more realistic and compassionate approach. On this subject, it is very d...

A standup show about comedy triggering the wrath of woke mobs. My comedy has led to accusations of transphobia (despite writing the offending material with a transgender woman I was dating), racism (which led to me getting blacklisted by clubs), sexism (fair do’s) and ableism. I’ve also been criticised by climate activists, socialists and vegans and I’ve had fat activists demonstrate against my shows. Am I really a bad person? Can comedy survive under the constant threat of cancellation?...

It’s all in that title, really. It’s a family saga about men, women and whisk(e)y - what’s not to love!
