Welcome to the Free Festival!

Much like the Edinburgh Fringe itself, The Free Festival has sadly had to be called off for 2020. We do hope that all of our performers, venues staff and audience members keep safe and well at this time, and we'll see you back on the streets of Edinburgh in 2021.

We do have some plans to keep you going through this year with some online Free Festival shows, and some other ideas! Do keep an eye on this site and our social media for more news as and when it happen

The Free Fringe Festival in 2019 was tons of fun...

...and so will next year! We'll have a new programme of shows with some of the biggest laughs at the Fringe returning in 2021.

We are the biggest comedy producer at the Fringe - and don't forget we also have a huge programme of cabaret, theatre, music, children's shows and more. Check out the What's On menu above to see the shows we had on in 2019, and our 2021 programme will be launched later in 2020!

Running the Free Festival costs a lot of Money

Some of this money is recouped through sponsorship & advertising. If you would like to contribute and help keep these venues free for performers and audiences click here

Best in Free: Best of the Fringe

With award winners and nominees, over many years we've had critically acclaimed Fringes, alongside a bucket-load of four and five-star reviewed shows.

This means our shows are free and also some of the best of the Fringe - while we allow performers and audiences experience the freedom too, with a chance to experiment and enjoy, just without the huge costs! Just what the Fringe should be!

All of our shows take a collection at the end, for you to pay what you think the show is worth.
