Cabaret
Voltaire is a multi-room Fringe venue, located at the bottom of
Blair street, just by the corner with the Cowgate. It is just
over the road from the City Cafe, and Close to The Caves, and
the Three sisters in the vibrant hub of venues along the
Cowgate. The venue is also seconds down the hill from the the
Royal Mile.
There are two performance spaces in
the venue: A large Main Stage for bigger shows and
The Long Room which has two halves - an intimate space that can
be expended
Performance
Space:
Main Room
- Stage: Roughly 4m Wide & 2.5 m deep, raised to 6cm. Backstage up
flight of stairs and entrance higher than stage itself.
- Seating: 85 Seated,
with a little room for standing at the rear.

Lighting: 4xPar Can to flood light the stage.
- Sound: 4 Channel Mixer,
Cables for MP3 Player, 2 Mics, Cables and Mic
stands. Performers own sound equipment can be added easily.
- AV: There is
a projector screen, but no projector. A cradle can be added to
the lighting bar, but projectors must be taken down at the end
of the day.
- Storage: There is a very small storage area for equipment up two
flights of stairs, shared between all rooms at this venue.
- Bar: There is no bar in
this room.
- Accessibility: There space is down a flight of stairs, so not
wheelchair accessible.
- Notes: There main room and The Long Room are in close proximity of each
other, with temporary walls so there is some minimal sound bleed. we do not book
shows with music into this room
Performance Space: The Long Room
- Stage: Roughly 3m Wide & 2m deep, raised to 3cm.
No backstage area.
- Seating: 55 Seated,
with room for standing at the rear in the raised area.
