Featured as part of Tara Art's #70/70 season, showcasing 70 works to commemorate 70 years of Independence of India and Pakistan, An Arrangement of Shoes will perform at the 70th Edinburgh Fringe before travelling to Vancouver, Canada for its North American Premiere.

Award-winning writing by Abhishek Majumdar - an astonishing theatre voice from India, whose play The Djinns of Eidgah was produced by the Royal Court. An Arrangement of Shoes is a moving, personal and energetic one-woman show set in an Indian Railway Colony during the first Gulf War.

On the eve of her grandfather's burial, Muslim storyteller Rukhsar searches through her memories for something that will help her reconnect with her past, her grandfather and . . . his shoes. Embarking on a fascinating journey, she brings her home and family to life. Family history and global history powerfully intertwine to tell a unique story - not only her own, but also of the wide-reaching consequences of war.

Touching, inventive and disarming in its warmth and simplicity, An Arrangement of Shoes charts the ebb and flow of love, loss and family ties whilst subtly exploring themes of globalisation and identity, in the Age of Faith.

Presented in association with Tara Arts.

Praise for An Arrangement of Shoes:
